The Minstrel is a modern clone of the Sinclair ZX80 computer. It is electrically the same as the original ZX80 but designed to match the layout of the ZX81 PCB.allowing it to be housed in a ZX81 case.

The board was designed by Dave Curran of Tynemouth Software http://www.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/

Dave has added composite video output to the board to make it a bit more compatible with modern TVs. Its also possible to use a 512K Eprom and have up to 8 different Roms, selected by jumpers. In practice, I have only found 2 Roms to be suitable - the original 4K ZX80 and the 8K ZX81 ROM.

I've build the motherboard into a ZX81 case painted white and used Pokemons excellent keyboard replacement.
